The Nodes Portal Toolkit (NPT) is broadly defined as a suite of tools that will enable GBIF Participants to easily deploy biodiversity data portals at the national, regional or thematic level. It has been envisaged as a community-led project, involving active engagement from GBIF Participant Nodes, strategic partners, and other key stakeholders.

New dataset: Antarctic deep-sea meiofauna
These data give - for the first time - an overview of the meiofauna that inhabits the slope and the abyssal plains in Antarctic waters to a depth of 5 200 m.
First SERF metadata record available in GCMD
SCAR-MarBIN offers a direct access to the content of its database using OGC-compliant webservices (including WMS/WFS). A metadata record describing these services is available from the Global Change Master Directory SERF section. WMS and WFS allow you to dynamically connect to SCAR-MarBIN occurence database using various software clients (ArcView, Matlab, R...) bypassing the Web search … Continue reading First SERF metadata record available in GCMD
New dataset: ANTAVIA-TrackingKing
Yan Ropert-Coudert has provided a new dataset on tracking data for king penguins, as a contribution from the new SCAR-EGBAMM group. The dataset includes over 100k records from GPS tracking of known-age and sex king penguins from Crozet Archipelago (age data are available upon request from the senior author).
New dataset: Antarctic Arrow worms
Arrow worms (Phylum Chaetognatha) are abundant planktonic organisms and important predators in many food webs; yet, the classification and evolutionary relationships among chaetognath species remain poorly understood. A seemingly simple body plan is underlain by subtle variation in morphological details, obscuring the affinities of species within the phylum. Many species achieve near global distributions, … Continue reading New dataset: Antarctic Arrow worms
New dataset: Antarctic Nemertea
Open-ocean environments provide few obvious barriers to the dispersal of marine organisms. Major currents and/or environmental gradients potentially impede gene flow. One system hypothesized to form an open-ocean dispersal barrier is the Antarctic Polar Front, an area characterized by marked temperature change, deep water, and the high-flow Antarctic Circumpolar current. Despite these potential isolating … Continue reading New dataset: Antarctic Nemertea
New dataset: Southern Ocean Ostracoda (except Halocypridina)
A new dataset is available on southern ocean Ostracods. It was prepared by Simone Brandao, with the support of a Total Foundation minigrant. The Southern Ocean Ostracoda database will include all records of Ostracoda except for the Halocypridina, which are edited by Martin Angel and Kasia Blachowiak-Samolyk.
