The Nodes Portal Toolkit (NPT) is envisioned as a suite of informatics tools for helping GBIF Participants to deploy, maintain and extend biodiversity data portals (at the national, regional or thematic level).
In October 2009 the GBIF Participant Node Managers Committee recommended that the Nodes Community be fully engaged in the development cycle of the NPT, especially to leverage the technical capacity available across the GBIF network.
In support to this community-driven process, the GBIF Secretariat is convening a Nodes Portal Toolkit Advisory Group (NPT-AG) to provide end-user views as well as strategic and technical guidance during the first phase of development of the NPT (from inception up to the development of the first release candidate for the NPT Version 1.0, expected by December 2011).
The NPT-AG will be a small expert group (7 to 9 members max.), convened for a period of 12 months, starting on 15th December 2010, and finalising activities on 15th December 2011.

Expressions of interest to be part of the NPT-AG should be sent by e-mail to the Senior Programme Officer for Nodes, Juan Bello (firstname.lastname@example.org). The deadline for applications is 15 December 2010.
